A home visit takes up a lot more time than a standard appointment.
If you feel you need a home visit we would be grateful if the request could be made before 11.00am as this makes it easier to plan our day. In reality very few home visits are necessary, except of course in cases where patients are housebound and seriously ill. You will be telephoned prior to any visit to assess the urgency and nature of the visit.
We do home visits but they are only if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind when requesting a home visit as these are on the basis of clinical need and our receptionists cannot make this decision.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
